The
Jayamahal Durga Puja is held at the Jayamahal Ladies Club grounds off

One of the oldest among the Durga Pujas celebrated in Bangalore, The Jayamahal Sarbajanin Durga Puja, started in 1955 as a military unit function, under Lt Colonel B M Chakraborty. The event came about with the efforts of the bengali employees of that military unit, with contributions from their salary. During that period everything from moulding, painting and dressing upthe idols was done by members from the unit. Arranging puja, prasad and bhog was organized by the womenfolk. Initially the location was the Mysore Lancers Line & Welfare Centre hall. From those very days pandals were erected in the open area and plays were held; rekindling the cultural heritage that bengalis share. Later in the year 1965, the puja shifted to its present venue; the Joymahal Ladies Club Grounds, Bangalore.

Directions
for coming to the puja grounds:
From Mekhri circle:
Take the road towards Cantonment Rly. Stn. As you go beyond the
TV tower, and then Funworld, you will cross a small circle. You
are to take the left flank (Nandidurg Road) which is one-way now.
Continue on the Nandidurg Road till you get Airtel Office on your
left. Take a right turn just after the Airtel Office and you will
hit the Jayamahal Park. The Puja is adjacent to it.
From Cantonment Rly. Stn.:
Pass the underbridge and take the left road to proceed towards
the TV Tower/ Mekhri Circle. Take a right turn at the second break
in the divider (next to SBI / Priyadarshini / Wine & Cheese).
This road curves, and leads you to Jayamahal Park. The Puja is
adjacent to it.
From Miller Road Underpass:
Come up from the underpass from the Ulsoor side. Go up to the
Circle next to Cantonment Rly. Stn. Underbridge. Take a right
turn into Jayamahal Road to proceed towards the TV Tower/ Mekhri
Circle. â?¢ Take a right turn at the second break in the divider
(next to SBI / Priyadarshini / Wine & Cheese). This road curves,
and leads you to Jayamahal Park. The Puja is adjacent to it.
